Teachers’ Ethics
TEACHERS’ CODE OF ETHICS

Introduction
Ethics are embedded in the Christian life. The morality of the Christian ethic is to have the end
goal of being Christlike. Teachers, instructors, and facilitators have the divine responsibility to
be an example to their students in all areas of life.
We expect educators to put the interest of the students above all things. Although our school
values high academic achievements, the higher goal is to transform the life of our students
holistically. This includes their spirituality, humanity, psychologically, emotionally and
physically. Therefore, teachers will plan their teaching to address the holistic development of
their students.
Teachers, as leaders, must win the trust of their students. Respect is earned and not
commanded. Care should be natural and not duty. Therefore, seeking the students’ highest
good will demonstrate the integrity of character and servanthood in attitude.
Personal Development
It is imperative for teachers to be the finest example to their students. In order for this to take
place, educators need to be constantly involved in personal holistic development.
Spirituality: The teachers’ spiritual life must constantly be nurtured. If the spirituality of the
teacher is weak, it will miss the purpose of the Bible School.
Academically: Teachers must remain academically involved in their studies, especially in the
subject/s of their teaching assignment. Research regularly develops, and educators need to
remain informed.
Psychologically: Teachers are to be of “sound mind.” In moments of stress and pressure,
whether at home, school, of the church, they are to demonstrate self-control.
Emotionally: Teachers must emotionally stable. The spirit of love must continually be
overflowing. Then, one would be patient, slow to anger, forgiving, and able to demonstrate the
fruit of the Spirit; that is Christlikeness.
Principles of Teachers’ Ethics
Teachers are to:

value the worth and dignity of every student.
•
Be devoted to excellence.
•
Peruse knowledge
•
Be dedicated to the development of the student
•
Be available to them inside and outside the classroom

This means students that are both studying independently, or in a class setting, can
have access to the instructors serving with GIT.
•
Be impartial
•
Make the learning experience meaningful
•
Shall not harass against any student because of race, color, gender, sexual orientation
and any other trait that a student may have.
•
Accept different views that might differ from their personal views, or the study guide or
textbooks, as long as the approach is academically acceptable.
•
Show professionalism in all areas such as with the opposite gender, and other
vulnerabilities students may have.
